There are many weight loss surgeries offered by bariatric doctors. There’s the gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and the gastric band (also known as lap band). These surgeries have helped many patients with weight loss and also have replaced high blood pressure treatments.
The lap band, compared to the other two surgeries, does not involve stapling or cutting of the stomach. The best thing about the lap band is that it’s adjustable to every persons needs. It is also reversible, not permanent, unlike bypass and sleeve.
The lap band cost is between $15,000 – $18,000, depending on a patient’s medical history. The surgery is covered by most PPO insurances, but in the case that a patient’s insurance doesn’t cover it, there’s lapband financing available at most bariatric facilities.
